Why trust our name pages
A person checks every name before it goes live. We confirm how it is spelled, what it means, how to say it and where it comes from. Right now we publish 400 checked names. The rankings come from real dogs at our five Auckland centres. They show what local dog owners truly pick, not what a list on the internet guesses.
Frequently asked questions
Where does your name data come from?
It comes from real dogs cared for at our five Auckland centres. The records are grouped and made anonymous first. It shows our local pack, not the whole country. We only share a count when enough dogs have the name to keep each pet private.
How do I find the right name for my dog?
Start with the Matchmaker. Tell us a bit about your dog, rate some sample names, and you get eight picks made just for you. Each one comes with a reason it fits.
Are the name meanings checked by a person?
Yes. Our team checks every meaning and each way to say a name before it gets its own page. Names with open questions stay off the site until they are sorted.
Can I save names I like?
Yes. Tap the heart on any name to add it to your shortlist. You can keep up to five names and compare them side by side.
Do you cover te reo Māori names?
We are working through these names with care. They go live only after an expert has checked each meaning, macron and the way we frame them.
