Quick Answer
Learn about our comprehensive 5-step daycare assessment process that ensures every dog has a safe and enjoyable experience at Pets In The City.
At Pets In The City, we take the safety and happiness of every dog seriously. That's why we've developed a comprehensive 5-step assessment process for all new daycare dogs. Here's what you can expect.
Step 1: Initial Meet and Greet
Your dog's daycare journey begins with a meet and greet session. Our experienced team meets your dog in a calm, controlled environment. We learn about their personality, energy level, and any specific needs or concerns you may have.
Step 2: Introducing Play Pals
We carefully introduce your dog to a small group of carefully selected play pals - dogs with complementary temperaments and energy levels. This initial introduction is closely supervised to ensure positive interactions.
Step 3: Behavioural Assessment
Throughout the assessment day, our trained staff observe your dog's behaviour, looking at:
- How they respond to other dogs
- Their play style and energy level
- How they handle shared resources (toys, water bowls)
- Their comfort level with staff handling
- Signs of stress or anxiety
Step 4: Compatibility with Other Dogs
Based on our observations, we determine which playgroup is the best fit for your dog. We consider size, energy level, play style, and temperament to ensure your dog is placed with compatible friends.
Step 5: Feedback and Recommendations
After the assessment, we provide you with a detailed report card covering:
- How your dog interacted with staff and other dogs
- Their energy level and play style observations
- Which playgroup we recommend
- Any areas of concern or special considerations
- Recommendations for frequency of attendance
Our goal is to ensure every dog that attends our daycare has a safe, enjoyable, and enriching experience. The assessment process helps us achieve this by understanding each dog as an individual.
