Peak Period Rates
A flat $9 per night surcharge applies during peak periods. Peak periods include Anniversary weekend, Waitangi weekend, Easter weekend, ANZAC Day/weekend, King's Birthday weekend, Matariki, Labour weekend, 18 December until 8 February, and all school holidays. A deposit of 30% of the total invoice is required for bookings over peak periods.

At Central Bark, everything starts with the standards we set for ourselves.
In 2025, Layamon and I had the opportunity to take over Central Bark, and we jumped at it.
Central Bark had long been one of the most respected names in dog care in New Zealand, with an incredible reputation, a loyal community, and a facility that genuinely sets the standard for the industry.
What stood out to us most wasn’t just the facility itself, but the people behind it. The passionate team, the strong culture, and the trust that had been built with local dog owners over many years.
Bringing Central Bark into the wider Pets In The City family felt like a natural fit. We shared the same belief that dogs deserve exceptional care, that standards matter, and that great dog daycare is built on far more than just supervision; it’s built on trust, professionalism, structure, and genuine love for the dogs in our care.
Today, Central Bark continues to stand as one of the leading dog daycare and pet hotel facilities in the country, supported by the systems, leadership, and ongoing investment of the wider Pets In The City group.
We feel incredibly proud to be part of this next chapter and even prouder to continue serving the local community alongside such an outstanding team.

Working at Pets in the City has been such a rewarding journey—this is now my fifth year, and I honestly wouldn’t want to be anywhere else. The dogs are what make every day worthwhile. While it can definitely be challenging at times, no other job compares.
